Bhubaneswar: For the next five days, all government and private schools in Odisha will be closed. The School & Mass Education department has  informed this.

According to the department, the State government has decided to close educational institutions until April 30 due to the ongoing scorching heat wave in the state.

“In light of the heat wave situation in the State, the government has been pleased to suspend classes of all educational institutions under the S&ME Department, namely Government, Government aided, and private managed (Odia & English medium) from 26.4.2022 to 30.4.2022 (except for examinations already scheduled by BSE & CHSE),” said Additional Secretary to Government, Dr. Pratap Kumar Mishra in a letter to all concerned officials.

It should be mentioned that the State government declared on April 16 that summer holidays for all state government and private educational institutions will begin on June 6, 2022, and will last through June 16, 2022. However, it has now decided to take five days off in response to a forecast from the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center in Bhubaneswar.

The weatherman had issued a Yellow Warning for heat wave conditions till April 30 earlier in the day.
